Alberta Big Rig Driver Education offers a range of courses in large truck driving and operations. Established in 1994, the institute began with a single office in Edmonton, in the province of Alberta. Today it has expanded to include additional offices in Drayton Valley, Fort McMurray and Red Deer. The institute recently opened its first driving school in Romania.
A number of recent studies have shown that the trucking industry is one of the best-paying on the market today. Further research has shown that the demand for skilled large truck operators could rise annually at a rate of 22% by the year 2008. Alberta Big Rig Driver Education offers a range of comprehensive courses specially designed to meet this need and guarantees their students a secure future in trucking.
The courses carry the student through from initial orientation classes to job placement assistance on course completion. Courses are available for classes 1-5 truck driving and cater to both beginner drivers and experienced drivers looking for a brush-up course. These courses cover aspects such as preventive maintenance, air brakes, log books and emergency first aid. On the job training is also available for freight distribution, which includes loading and unloading as well as learning how to navigate in heavy traffic. Oilfield training and highway training is also available.
