The Alberta Institute of Massage is among the most prestigious school and aims at offering high quality professional training in massage therapy both for students seeking a career in this field and for existing therapists who want to complement their knowledge. The Alberta Institute of Massage is a member of the Canadian Council of Massage Therapy Schools, the Alberta Association of Career Colleges and the National Association of Career Colleges. The continuing education classes and personal interest classes continue through the year. Both 1000-hour and 1200-hour programs are offered as Full Time Program and part time. The full time program covers Anatomy & Physiology & Massage Practical. The practicum and Supplementary classes during the weekends include CPR, First Aid, Advanced Assessment, Student Clinic and a facilitated cadaver lab session at the University of Calgary Medical School. A part time/distance training program that covers the same content as the full time course is also offered and supplemented by home assignments and research projects. The institute conducts workshops and continuing education programs on reflexology, hot stone massage, body kneads, and spa therapies. The supervised student massage clinic offers treatments by the students in a classroom-like setting so that they can become experts in massage therapy.
