Profile of Career College/Trade School

Ben Kersen and the Wonderdogs, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, was founded by Ben Kersen in 1979. Ben Kersen and the Wonderdogs is the first and only dog training program in Western Canada that has been accredited by the Private Post-Secondary Education Commission of British Columbia (PPSEC). It is also registered with the Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA) of British Columbia.

The school provides its students with the option of training in any one of its training venues in Vancouver, Victoria, Brentwood and Colwood areas. In order for the more personalized feel, students have to bring their own dog the college, by the time of graduation, they have an expertly trained dog with them! The students handle a minimum of 35 dogs and learn to deal and train them in real-life scenarios.

The Professional Dog Trainers Program lasts for 12 weeks with classes held 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Class size is very small with a maximum of 4 to 5 students. Students can get financial aid if they qualify. Students are trained in the different aspects of dog training such as training the dogs for movies, television and advertising, schutzhund, police work, conformation, obedience trials, retrieving and field work, flyball, agility, and herding dogs etc.

Students have a lot of scope as they can train dogs for the police, start a private practice, and become elegible for many other exciting jobs as canine specialists are much in demand. This is one career which requires a minimum overhead to get established.
