The Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine is the only approved naturopathic medical school in Western Canada. Its goal is to provide the best quality instruction with up to date course material in natural medicine. Both students and teaching staff are encouraged to get involved in research projects.
The institute is accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of BC and Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges. The Council on Naturopathic Medical Education recognizes the Boucher Institute, enabling BINM students to appear for the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations offered by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners. BINM is on the list of approved schools of the College of Naturopathic Physicians of British Columbia, the regulatory body for the licensing of naturopathic physicians in B.C.
The Boucher Institute has a teaching clinic open to the public where students practice the knowledge that they gain during the program under the supervision of their instructors. The institute has a screening procedure before selecting participants for the program. There are five basic categories of courses provided that makes up the Naturopathic Medical Program. These are Health Sciences, Professional Development, Naturopathic Therapeutic Modalities, Clinical Science and Clinical Practice and Integration. In addition to this, students have a clinical internship program with practicing physicians that builds the confidence required to practice on their own.
