Great Slave Helicopters Flight Training Center has more than 20 years of experience in training students. It has an impressive fleet of more than 60 helicopters. It was established in the year 1984 by Rodney Wood and Gabe Devenyi. It has more than 15 different types of crafts including Hughes 500D, Astars, and Longrangers. It also has crafts such as the Jetrangers, Bell 204s, 205s and 212s. It is located at the Calgary - Springbank Airport. It has a crew house, a hanger and office space.

Great Slave Helicopters Flight Training Center has a 20,000 square foot maintenance facility that is equipped with the latest in maintenance and avionics equipment. The institution is currently owned by Adam Bembridge and Ian Campbell, both former employees.

Great Slave Helicopters Flight Training Center offers a private helicopter license program that offers 45 hours minimum flight training and 40 hours of ground school. It also offers a fixed wing pilot license program with 30 hours flight training and 20 hours of ground school. A commercial helicopter pilot license program of 100 hours flight training and 80 hours of ground school is offered as well. A fixed wing program is also available comprising of 60 hours of flight training and 20 hours of ground school. Mountain training program is available for commercial pilot license holders and for this students are trained in the Canadian Rockies.

Successful students can seek employment in national and international flight service providers as well as private and public concerns. Helicopter pilots offer service in mining, in search and rescue organizations, aerial spraying and in offshore oil plants etc.
