Profile of Career College/Trade School

The International School of Auctioneering is based in the province of Alberta and is the oldest auction school in the country. It offers a comprehensive two week course that covers all aspects of auctioneering and teaches how to be a successful auctioneer. The course includes lectures and seminars conducted by successful auctioneers and businessmen and businesswomen that have made a mark in the auction business.

Contrary to popular opinion, the auction business has grown significantly in recent times and has emerged as a challenging and demanding industry today. A successful auctioneer is a person who doesn't just know how to chant, but who also knows the workings of every single aspect of auctioneering, from planning to selling. The International School of Auctioneering offers students training in the skills they would need to successfully establish themselves in the auctioneering industry.

The course that is offered covers every aspect of holding and executing an auction. Students learn how to set up an auction sale and how the prospect of selling works in an auction set-up. They also learn how to develop their public speaking skills and understand the basic elements of sales management. They learn about preparing bills, advertising and appraisals. Students are taught about the different kinds of auctions, ranging from farm auctions to real estate sales. Students learn about bookkeeping, accounting and rodeo announcing. On course completion, graduates are prepared to enter the auction business in any capacity.
