The M.D. Charleton Academy offers programs that enable students to work as peace officers once they graduate. The M.D. Charleton Academy has been training students for more than a quarter of a century. Apart from training students, the M.D. Charleton Academy is also a supplier of licensed firearms. This career college has campuses in Ontario, Saskatoon, and Victoria. The Peace Officer Training Diploma offered by the college has been accredited by the proper authorities. After completing the course, students go on to work as probation officers, in rehabilitation and corrections programs, and in customs. The training program lasts 17 weeks, during which students are taught report writing, laws, communication skills, force training, fitness regime, and use of non-lethal weapons like batons. The course covers topics like conflict resolution, people management, criminal code, report writing, alarm systems, court testimony, fire prevention, bomb threats, and labor relations. A peace officer must understand the proper use of weapons, first aid, and criminal laws and must have knowledge of common offenses. The M.D. Charleton Academy course includes 64 hours of security training. After completion of the course, students are also trained in the right way to get a job as a peace officer.
