The MTI Community College was established in 1988 as a Metro Training Institute. The college is now a part of the Barkel Business College and provides training to those interested in vocational courses. The MTI Community College offers a learning environment conducive to learning and growth. The classes are small, and the faculty is chosen from among the best in their respective fields.

The campuses of MTI Community College are spread over five different locations in Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Coquitlam and Chilliwack in British Columbia. The college runs programs in youth, business, hospitality, health care and childcare. All the programs are accredited with the government of British Columbia. They are also recognized as quality by many businesses. The programs are frequently upgraded in consultation with various business houses and companies. Their industry specific-nature makes it easier for students to land jobs right after graduation.

The MTI Community College offers certificate courses in computerized accounting and payroll supervisor, business management, marketing, office administration, childcare, international trade, special needs, toddler, childhood care, education, hospitality, travel and tourism, healthcare.
