The Martiere School of Hair Design and Esthetics is located at 716 Johnson Street, Victoria. This career college offers courses in nail technology, hair styling, and makeup. The college began functioning in 1986 as a school for hairstyling. Later, other courses were added to the curriculum. After completing the course, students can find jobs in the beauty industry or in the growing fashion industry. The hair design course at Martiere School of Hair Design and Esthetics uses theoretical teaching reinforced by practical experience to give students the knowledge of the latest styles and techniques in hair design. Some of the courses that are part of this program are bacteriology, hygiene, types of hair and scalp, shampooing, cutting, and different kinds of styling. The Nail Technology course includes anatomy of nails, treatment, disorders of nail, growth of nails, and diseases of nails. The Makeup course trains students in makeup artistry, salon management, facial shapes, cosmetics, eyelashes, and eyebrows. The Esthetic and Spa therapy program at Martiere School of Hair Design and Esthetics provides training in massage, skin care, skin composition, electricity therapy, manicure, pedicure, hair removal, and facial makeup. Students are also taught presentation techniques, communication, human relations, and ethics as part of the course.
