Moose Jaw Multicultural Council was established in the year 1974 and strives to make newcomers to Canada understand the culture and help them integrate with the community. The institution supports members from Africa, Afghanistan, Caribbean Islands, China, East India etc. among others. The institution wishes to spread awareness that each culture is unique and discourages racial and cultural discrimination of individuals. The institution offers services such as settlement, adaptation and integrations to immigrants. The institution hosts a Youth Conversation Circle every Monday which is open to ESL students. It also offers an Adult Conversation Circle every Thursday. Students are offered childcare services.
Moose Jaw Multicultural Council offers Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada, Monday through Friday to those who wish to adapt to Canadian lifestyle and culture. Three levels of the program are available and they are conducted in three separate classrooms. It also offers an Employment and Career Preparation Program that trains students in resume writing, skill assessments, communication skills etc. It also offers an Immigrant Settlement Adaptation Program that offers a variety of services to immigrants to help them settle down and lead productive lives in Canada.
Moose Jaw Multicultural Council also organizes a host program that assigns volunteers to immigrant families. The volunteers have to communicate with the immigrants in English and French to help them learn the languages and to introduce them to the society. They have to help the families learn how to use household utilities and to help them find their way around the community.
