Profile of Career College/Trade School

Ontario College of Healthcare Professionals has been established to meet the growing demand of healthcare professionals in today’s world. They wish to generate students for whom personal as well as dental hygiene will be a matter of self-direction. They wish to generate students who will be self learners in the true sense of the term and will be professional in their learning ways.

The dental hygiene program consists of 18 months or 72 weeks. They also offer subjects like Pharmacology and Anatomy, Physiology as well as a clinical component. The first semester into the dental hygiene program covers the basic language of the dental profession and involves courses like Human Body in Health and disease, Communications, Practice Management, Dental Materials, Dental radiology etc.

The faculty in the college brings together the many strands of the dental field from many areas of expertise and experience. The faculty includes individual practitioners as well as people who still practice or have practiced and taught in publicly funded colleges and universities.

Most of the instructors are hygienists who have or are in the process of completing their certificates and degrees in adult education. The instructors help in creating an emphatic environment for the learners. The field of dental hygiene is very challenging, this requires well-equipped professionals and hence the admission criterion has been set to a minimum education level of Grade 12 education equivalent to the Ontario Secondary School Requirements.
