It is a registered private vocational school situated in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Being a vocational school, it teaches strong business practices as well. The language of instruction is English as it is at almost all other colleges. For admission in the PrairieView School of Photography, a student must have completed at least Grade 11 or should have acquired the mature student status. Knowledge in English, both oral and written is important. It is not necessary to have any previous experience in photography, though having it will definitely give a student an edge over others. The application can be downloaded from the website and must be mailed along with a portfolio. If necessary, an interview might be conducted. PrairieView School of Photography also offers workshops on certain days. These weekend and evening workshops include Digital Techniques Levels 1 and 2, Digital Photography for Teens, Night/Low Light Photography, Create Your Own Photobook, Photo Restoration, Creative Lighting, High Dynamic Range Photos and Better People Pictures. Most of the workshops are about a week long. PrairieView School of Photography also offers a diploma in professional photography. The diploma course covers every aspect of photography ranging from traditional and digital photography to darkroom techniques and business of photography. The course covers over 1000 hours of theory and practical and is an extremely comprehensive course of over a period of ten months. The faculty at PrairieView School of Photography is distinguished and comprises of professional artists, photographers and industry experts.
