Television, film and video production can be an incredibly exciting and challenging field to embark on. Today the reach of television and film has increased dramatically as it has crossed different media formats and the barrier of language and distance as well. Television and film production combines the cutting edge of today's technology with creativity.

The need for television and film production professionals has risen in the past years as many more networks have opened up, on large and small scales all over the world. Internet film platforms have also opened a large number of production opportunities. The career option is not only a challenging one but there are also numerous job opportunities available as well as a tremendous scope for further development.

There are a number of courses available that teach students about television and film production. These programs teach students about script writing, including television dramas and short films. Students also learn about lighting and lenses, evaluating lighting for different sets, working with studios and exteriors, operating sound equipment, editing theory and the different types of microphones that are used.
