Quadrant Marine Institute is a private marine institute based in Sidney, British Columbia, Canada. It is accredited by the Private Career Training Institutions Agency of British Columbia. A branch training center has opened in Vancouver, British Columbia. It provides training for boat and yacht building, repair, and maintenance. It also provides apprenticeship training for technicians who are employed in the marine industry. Students can now study in the Marine Technicians training program through the distance-learning program. Three variations of the program are available. The first and the second focus on career training in the marine industry; the third is for those who are interested in knowing about yacht repair and maintenance. The main program that is offered at Quadrant is the Marine Technician Apprenticeship program. Apprentices are given lots of practical training. The theoretical part of the program covers all aspects of the trade and is delivered through evening classes or through correspondence. An apprentice has to demonstrate a certain level of competency to successfully complete the program. The Marine Industry Foundation Program is a five-week certificate program. It prepares students for a career in the yacht and light commercial vessel building and repair industries. It provides intensive hands-on training along with theoretical knowledge. The program is approved by the Industry Training Authority of BC. This is a growing industry, so graduates will find plenty of employment opportunities.
