Profile of Career College/Trade School
Recording Arts Canada was established in 1984 and currently has two campuses running in Montreal and Toronto. Accredited by the Private Career Colleges Act in Ontario and the Ministry of Education in Québec, the institute offers a range of comprehensive training programs in the fields of sound and music recording as well as digital media. Both of the institute's campuses have an added advantage of being located in two of Canada's cultural hot spots, thus putting the students right in the center of the digital graphic, music and movie industries. Recording Arts Canada itself has worked with a number of award-winning Canadian and international stars including Sting, Sheryl Crow, David Bowie, Shania Twain and Cirque du Soliel. Recording Arts Canada offers training programs in digital music and sound recording and prepares students for careers in live events, television, radio, movies and theater. Training in digital media is also available which covers aspects of digital imaging, interactivity and 3D. As the digital entertainment field continues to grow at an astounding rate, the institute offers the latest in course material to ensure that all students are taught the very latest skills and technologies. Students will cover extensive theoretical material though nearly 60% of course work is practical work which is done inside the studio. This allows students to become familiar with a studio environment and how equipment is operated. Each student is given their own workstation to use and work in small batches under the guidance of experienced instructors.
