Southern Interior Construction Association, popularly known as SICA, is a non-profit association that provides training to more than four hundred construction industry members. SICA has offices in the towns of Kelowna, Kamloops, Vernon, Penticton, Castlegar, and Cranbrook.
The main aim of the training programs offered by Southern Interior Construction Association is to teach folks industry skills that will help to increase efficiency and reduce expenses resulting from errors and accidents. This would lead to increased profits for the industry members.
SICA offers Gold Seal courses for industry management professionals, a WHMIS training program and a written occupational health & safety Program among others. There is also the ‘Certificate of Recognition’ program awarded by the Construction Safety Association of British Columbia. All companies who complete this COR program are awarded a check of $450.
The accredited programs available at Southern Interior Construction Association training centers consist of courses for the safety of owners, supervisors, and workers. There are also programs for safety auditors and claims & disability managers. Students are given theoretical and practical training through videos, safety equipment, and quizzes.
The courses are open to folks already working in the industry as well as others who want to join up. The programs are designed keeping in mind industry demands and are offered at special rebates to member companies. Learn more about safety courses for the construction industry at the SICA website.
