The Vancouver College of Counselor Training believes that in order to be a successful counselor for others, one must be a successful counselor for oneself. For this is necessary awareness of the self including personal issues, conflicts and losses, unhealthy patterns but also strengths, and ways of supporting oneself; all of these are essential to the training for becoming an effective counselor for others. Counselor skill training is exclusive compared to many other types of career skill training. It concentrates on concurrent development of you as an individual, you as a professional, and your attainment of the most transferable set of career skills - counseling skills – meant to help you in all interpersonal surroundings. The Vancouver College of Counselor Training programs do this through thorough training. The counselor training of Vancouver College of Counselor Training gives you the chance to develop your self-knowledge, growth and abilities in order to guide you in ways that are deliberate and efficient. The courses ,prepared by practicing Psychologists, Family Therapists and Counselors, balance state of the art theory and practice, and are tailored to benefit both beginners and practioners. Vancouver College of Counselor Training is registered and recognized by the legislated government regulatory authority, the Private Careers Training Institutions Agency, PCTIA. Financial assistance is provided to eligible students. You can take advantage of Canada Student Loans and Provincial Student Loans, Bank student line of credit, Workers’ Compensation Board, Human Resources Development Canada, Ministry of Skills, Training and Labour (Vocational Rehabilitation Services) and Native Band sponsorships. Students of the college, who are recommended by their clinical supervisor, may get client referrals from the college-counseling department. The Client Referral Service helps counselors to develop their clientele based on word-of-mouth recommendation.
