Criminal Psychology and Behaviour - Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology

Centennial College of Applied Arts and Technology's Criminal Psychology and Behaviour program is a specialized criminology certificate, which may be completed entirely though distance education, designed primarily for 'individuals who have a special interest in criminal psychology and behaviour' and/or 'who are working or volunteering in a corrections program,' women's shelter, 'youth at risk,' or related environments or initiatives. Through courses that will also develop learners' analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and research abilities, students will study complex issues including co-dependency as an addiction, criminal and psychopathic minds, cults and terrorism, and domestic, sexual, and workplace violence, principles of human behaviour. Through studying these issues, students will also analyze traditional questions in criminology revolving around the causes, consequences, and prevention of crime and criminal behaviour.

Graduates of the Program who are already employed can apply what they have learned to better their workplace performance. Graduates who are not already employed will possess a basic foundation to pursue lower-level positions or volunteer work in various aspects of the criminal justice system, especially those dealing with corrections, domestic or workplace violence, sexual abuse, and at risk individuals.

Graduates who have an interest in criminal justice or criminology can also pursue further studies at various institutes, colleges, and universities across Canada; although credits earned via this Program might not be eligible for advanced standing into other Programs.
