Transition to Policing and Security - NorQuest College

NorQuest College's 10-month Transition to Policing and Security program is specifically 'designed to help English as a second language students meet the entrance requirements needed to pass recruiting entrance assessments for various employers.' The Program will develop candidates' 'English communication skills while also completing all of the required courses to achieve a NorQuest Policing and Security certificate.' The latter provide candidates with the knowledge and skills to 'meet the entrance requirements for' various police services in Alberta and across Canada.' Students will also engage in 'four weeks of work experience with an agency suitable to their career goals.'

Employment-wise, graduates may pursue careers in various areas of policing, including corrections, law enforcement, and security, in Alberta and across Canada. For example, graduates may find positions as bailiffs, correctional service officer, federal, municipal, provincial, or special police officers, military police officers, security managers, security officers, and sheriffs.

To be eligible for admission to the Transition to Policing and Security program, applicants must have clear criminal record check, CLB 7, and 'a valid driverĘs license,' undergo an 'academic assessment in English,' be 'physically able to complete fitness training to pass employer physical assessments,' and obtain 'health, vision, and doctorĘs medical clearance.' Prospective students with CLB 6 instead of CLB 7 may take' the Prep for Policing and Security program 'offered by Academics for Careers and Employment to upgrade their English before entering the program.'
