The Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology's Advanced Manufacturing Technologies - Wood and Composite Products (AMT-WCP) is a unique 4-year Applied Degree primarily designed for individuals aspiring to careers in the 'advanced wood and composite products manufacturing industry.' The Program combines technical and practical education and work experience, including applied projects, co-op work terms, and industrial case studies, to expose students to the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production considerations involved in the Industry. Students will undertake 'a detailed study and evaluation of the principles, methods and applications needed for making technically sound decisions in manufacturing processes, physical properties of materials,' and 'advanced computer applications.' Furthermore, the Program will integrate 'content across several related disciplines' and 'complementary studies in business, generic skills and liberal studies' including 'a solid foundation in business considerations, and an exposure to liberal arts disciplines.' The Program includes 3 co-op work terms of which 2 are mandatory; the latter may require students to 'relocate or commute.'

The AMT-WCP has been developed in partnership with industry advisors, Wood Manufacturing Council of Canada, and Fachhochschule Rosenheim to ensure that the skills students learn are relevant to the needs of potential employers. Graduates typically pursue careers, including as managers and supervisors, in various aspects of the Industry, both domestically and internationally, such as in architectural millwork and manufacturing cabinets, furniture, and wood- and/or composite-based components.
