BC Public Service Ministry of Environment Victoria Senior Environmental Economist Salary $69,905.24 - $80,033.62 annually plus 6.6% temporary market adjustment An integral role for an expert in environmental or resource economics The Ministry of Environment is responsible for encouraging and maintaining the effective protection, management, and conservation of B.C.'s water, land, air, and living resources. The Senior Environmental Economist position is in the Environmental Economics Unit which serves the entire ministry. The senior environmental economist will provide authoritative environmental economics analysis, econometric modelling, policy analysis and development, and decision support services to the Ministry, Natural Resource Sector, and broader government executive on major, complex environmental/ resource management policy initiatives. The senior environmental economist will lead and conduct environmental economic analysis in challenging areas such as development of market-based instruments and valuation of ecosystem goods and services to support innovative policy approaches that balance environmental protection and economic development. This role requires significant knowledge and experience, including conducting and leading major environmental/resource economic studies and research projects of considerable complexity. Experience and Qualifications

To be considered for this position your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have the following: Masters Degree in Economics, Environmental Economics, Resource Economics, or a related field (e.g. public policy or environmental management with a strong economics foundation) and ) and five (5) years related experience (including conducting and leading major environmental/resource economic studies and research projects of considerable complexity); or PhD in Economics, Environmental Economics, Resource Economics, or a related field (e.g. public policy or environmental management with a strong economics foundation) and ) and three (3) years related experience (including conducting and leading major environmental/resource economic studies and research projects of considerable complexity); Other relevant combinations of education and related experience may be considered.
