The Senior Financial Accountant is an independent position that directs and monitors financial reporting and analysis of health SUCH (schools districts, universities, colleges, and health authorities) sector entities. Applying your accounting experience and expertise in preparing financial statements and research and analysis of complex financial issues, you provide direction on budgeting, accounting and financial reporting for the Ministry and SUCH entities. Experience and Qualifications

Completion of a recognized professional accounting designation (e.g. CA, CGA or CMA) or Bachelor's degree in Economics, Commerce, Business or Public Administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Related experience: Progressively more responsible accounting experience analyzing and preparing complex financial statements, notes or schedules. Experience preparing financial reports, preferably with consolidation of multiple complex entities - routine and ad hoc. Experience providing direction and advice on a variety of financial, accounting, and management issues. Experience analyzing financial data for variances and trends and recommending remedial action. Experience in compensation issues will be considered an asset. Experience with complex spreadsheet applications, sophisticated reporting tools, and database architecture desirable.
