Overview

About CWY: A non-profit organization, Canada World Youth (CWY) is a world leader in developing international volunteer and educational programs for young people aged 15 to 35. Since 1971, more than 36,000 people from Canada and around the world have participated in our programs in 68 countries. These programs are designed to help youth experience the world for themselves, learn about other cultures and diverse Canadian communities while developing leadership and communication skills. Mainly focused on health and environment, the educational experience offered by CWY allows the development of a sustainable social responsibility dedicated to enriching the lives of young people that have a desire to become informed and active global citizens. Programs: Depending on the program, a group of young volunteers from different cultures live with host families and do volunteer work for a period of 3 months to 1 year together. Most programs are divided in two phases, one in a Canadian community and the other in one of our partner countries. Youth volunteers are usually paired with a counterpart from the partner country throughout the entire youth exchange. Youth volunteers have an opportunity to participate in a meaningful international volunteer experience, learn about other cultures, acquire useful skills for the future, gain a better understanding of global issues, and contribute to the strengthening of health or environmental projects in their host communities.
