Overview

The Acting Dean, Faculty of Business and Professional Studies, is the chief academic and administrative officer of this Faculty, and is responsible for all operational decisions/communications concerning this Faculty including budget planning and maintenance, planning and curriculum design, general operations, personnel management, strategic planning, mission fulfillment, and future development. The Faculty of Business and Professional Studies offers University courses in the areas of Business, Communications and Legal Studies. Degrees include Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Communication and Bachelor of Legal Studies (Paralegal).


Responsibilities

The Acting Dean oversees the performance of chairs, coordinators, convenors, and other direct reports, and is accountable for the learning outcomes and teaching accomplishments of this Faculty. As an integral member of executive leadership group, the Acting Dean reports to the Vice President, Academic and Provost, and serves in the Senate as well as on a wide variety of management and governance committees.

- Experience working in a unionized environment - Experience working in a post-secondary environment - Administrative Experience - Experience working in a diverse community - Ability to lead strategic change and to be able to think outside traditional confines in the School of Business The successful candidate will be dedicated to collaboration, communication, and consultation, as well as outcomes driven teaching and evidence-based learning, and will have a doctorate, terminal degree (e.g. MBA), or equivalent academic and professional experience suitable to the role and responsibilities.
