Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, you will be responsible for the efficient operation and marketing of the City's recycling programs as well as the day-to-day management of the landfill including supervision and coordination of contractors' work. You must enjoy the outdoors for this job, as you will spend time out in the field conducting water sampling on a regular basis. You will also assist with technical investigations relating to landfill improvements such as surface drainage, leachate collection systems, long term planning and preparation of the annual operation and maintenance of capital work.


Experience and Qualifications

Your qualifications ideally include:

  • Completion of Grade 12 and a post-secondary educational program focused on environmental management - OR - an equivalent combination of training and experience;
  • Some experience in an environmentally-focused position;
  • Possession of a valid class 5 B.C. Driver's Licence;
  • Current understanding of waste and recycling options;
  • Good knowledge of chemistry and ability to interpret laboratory data;
  • Familiar with computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
