Overview

DUTCH the magazine is looking for an associate editor. We hope to find an enthusiastic team member who shares our vision of producing a high quality magazine about The Netherlands and its people, at home and abroad, and would truly enjoy working on our product. The new associate editor should be willing to grow with the company and be prepared to step outside of the boundaries of his or her specic job description to take on a wider set of tasks as the need arises. We are looking for someone with training, or commensurate experience on the editorial and/or design side of print-publishing. The successful candidate will be a native, or near-native, English speaker, must have a proven anity with the Dutch culture and community and at least a passive knowledge of the Dutch language. The position will be based out of our Penticton, British Columbia Head Oce. For the right candidate we are willing to entertain teleworking options, and candidates who reside in the Greater Vancouver area are specically requested to respond.


Responsibilities

- Participate in content and design planning of the magazine - Participate in the editing, layout and production process - Source articles from and liaise with contributors - Undertake writing projects as and when assigned - Participate in maintaining the content of our web and social media presence


Experience and Qualifications

- A degree or diploma (or comparable experience) in journalism, or design with an emphasis on print media - Prociency with InDesign, Illustrator, Microsoft Word and Web tools - Excellent editing, writing and/or layout skills - All the other obvious, yet essential traits, like being able to work independently, and as a member of a team, being creative and exible, serious, yet fun to work with, a good communicator with a strong work ethic, able to function in a deadline-driven environment, being a good organizer and a quick learner etc. etc.
