Overview

New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) is a private, non-profit, independent institution of higher learning for 14,000 students enrolled in more than 50 programs of study leading to undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees. Students attend classes at NYIT's Manhattan and Long Island campuses as well as five global campuses. Responsibilities

NYIT seeks qualified candidates for the Dean and Executive Director of its campus in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The Dean is the chief operating officer of the campus and reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in New York. Assistant Dean(s) for different programs in Vancouver and staff report to this Campus Dean. Responsibilities include oversight of academic course and program offerings, the administration of an operational budget in support of all campus activities, marketing and development of new programs and opportunities, understanding of local government program accreditation, employment laws and regulations, conducting positive and successful negotiations with NYIT partners in BC and Canada, developing engagement opportunities for NYIT alumni in the region, developing successful recruitment programs. The Dean represents NYIT to all external constituencies, including alumni, advisory boards, government officials, local accrediting agencies, the media, and business and civic organizations. The Dean collaborates with the administrators in charge of academic programs in New York to affect academic policies and procedures and supervises career services and enrollment services, as well as a wide range of other support services. This dynamic position requires the candidate have the ability to interact with different constituencies to foster the growth and champion the sterling reputation of the NYIT brand. Ongoing relationship building within the community, including, but not limited to: new and existing partnerships with local universities, businesses, International consulates, trade boards and alumni is a key component of the position. Working closely with the Director of Recruitment and Marketing, the ideal candidate will possess the ability to expand enrollment and create a sustainable model for growth. This position will also be charged with envisioning new degree programs and identifying diversified venues for marketing and expanding NYIT brand awareness. The Campus Dean will work closely with the faculty, and will supervise non-instructional staff to create an invigorating educational environment for students. The Campus Dean collaborates with the program Deans in New York to affect academic policies and procedures and supervises career services and enrollment services, as well as a wide range of other support services.


Experience and Qualifications

Candidates must hold a terminal degree (Ph.D. preferred) and have three years of academic administrative experience. Experience with Canadian Ministry of Education is beneficial. Must be eligible to work in and travel outside Canada. Program-building experience a plus. NYIT offers competitive salary and benefits package.
