Overview

Pacific Coast University is a statutory not-for-profit University, created with the unanimous consent of all Members of the Legislative Assembly of the province of British Columbia. The Senior Academic Lead is a new position in a newly created University under the direction of the Board of the National Institute of Disability Management. The Senior Academic lead is entrusted with implementing the educational direction of the University including the successful implementation of the educational program, building on the current educational delivery framework, and research initiatives. Academic standards and institutional integrity will be assured through development of published standards.


Responsibilities

Specific duties will include the development and implementation of: A strategic plan with implementation measures and key performance indicators, an academic calendar with courses of study and rules and regulations concerning admission, continuation, graduation requirement, appeals processes and student codes of conduct. Student handbooks, business and financial services plan and a five year budget. Policies concerning academic freedom and institutional integrity. Expansion of the current curriculum for submission to the DQAB for approval. Establishment and overseeing of Committees related to faculty and staff relations, policy and planning, library, computing and educational support.


Experience and Qualifications

Candidates will possess a PhD with prior experience in a similar or related start up role in a recognized University. Candidates will have excellent communication, leadership, organizational, administrative, policy development, and managerial skills as well as being able to work independently with discretion and diplomacy.
