Overview

Guide will take a group of approx. 15-40 children and their teachers/supervisors/parents on an educational walking tour of our pumpkin patch. Duration of the tour lasts approx. 2 hrs. Tours are conducted weekdays in October. Morning tours can start as early as 9:15 a.m. and afternoon tours as early as 12:45 p.m.


Responsibilities

Guides will greet and accompany the children and their teachers/ supervisors/parents on a walking tour of our Pumpkin Patch. The children are educated on the lifecycle of a Pumpkin, its plant and growth, and the many ways pumpkins are used for food. Historical and cultural information, Harvest and Thanksgiving traditions, and uses of the pumpkin in relation to this theme, are also discussed. The guides will demonstrate the carving of a pumpkin for the children. We provide pumpkin information; although guides are encouraged to incorporate additional information, add songs etc. to the lesson to make it enjoyable and interactive. Guides are responsible to remain with their group until the end of the tour.


Experience and Qualifications

Skills to care for children and be very friendly are a must. Dressing the part of a farmer or comical outfits will work perfectly.
