For more information about our church, please refer to www.standrewsislington.org. Ministry Context 1. All Ministry is under the Lordship of Christ and the authority of His Word. 2. Our vision is to be a connected community where Jesus' love and power is transforming lives, families, friends, and society. 3. Our purpose is to be praying, growing, serving, and sharing followers of Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. 4. All leaders of Christ's church will seek to be true examples of biblical discipleship as understood by our vision and purpose statements. 5. Within the context of Music Ministry, we as a congregation particularly value:

  • Music that incorporates a variety of styles (i.e. blended worship).
  • Worshipping as a spiritual family (inter-generational).
  • Recognizing and incorporating the various musical gifts of the congregation.
  • A welcoming and informal worship environment, that glorifies God, is centered on Christ, and is empowered by the Holy Spirit.
  • A team approach. Key Areas of Responsibility 1. Provide leadership for all aspects of musical worship for Sunday morning worship services. This may include, but is not limited to:
  • Playing piano, keyboard and/or organ.
  • Finding, encouraging, and providing leadership to teams of volunteers, both vocalists and instrumentalists.
  • Rehearsing with and accompanying soloists/ensembles for "ministry in music."
  • Ensuring that there is music before and after services, as well as during the offering. 2. Collaborate in choosing appropriate songs and other music pieces along with and under the authority of the Senior Minister. 3. Develop and organize worship teams and leaders from within congregation. 4. Be available to play at the weddings and funerals of members and adherents, if invited to do so (right of first refusal for funerals). 5. Oversee all aspects of the audio/visual ministry (i.e. sound board and video projection). 6. Develop and organize teams of volunteers to implement audio/video ministry. 7. In consultation with the Worship Committee, assist with planning and development for Easter, Christmas or other special programs. 8. Other duties relating to Music Ministry as requested by the Senior Minister or Worship Committee. Reporting and Accountability 1. Responsible directly to the Senior Minister, reporting regularly on all aspects of ministry. 2. Complete an annual ministry/personal development review with the Senior Minister and members of the Worship Committee. 3. Member of the Worship Committee. Would be expected to provide regular progress reports on program, planning, and team development. Employment Conditions 1. Part time position, with a starting salary of $18-20,000 per annum, plus benefits. 2. 20 hours per week. 3. Three weeks paid vacation annually.

  • Experience and Qualifications

    Qualifications, Skills and Experience 1. A living, growing faith in God, as revealed in the Bible through Jesus, and made known by the ongoing presence and power of the Holy Spirit. 2. A willingness to learn and grow along with the other leaders in the church. 3. Experience leading musical worship, both individually and as part of a team. 4. Experience and competence with audio/visual equipment and software. 5. Interest in other artistic or creative expressions of worship. 6. Musical and/or sound technician training, degrees, or other qualifications would be a strong asset. 7. Excellent communication and organizational skills. 8. Strong computer skills for communication, organization, video projection, etc. 9. Leadership skills and the ability to create a warm, collegial relationship with all staff.
