Overview

York University's Campus Services and Business Operations - Energy Management unit is currently seeking a temporary Civil Engineer with concentration on Water and Sewer piping. Campus Services and Business Operations (CSBO) is responsible for supporting the University's Mission in providing for and managing the physical resources, security and ancillary services of York University. CSBO has over 800 staff who work in the following operating and support units: Housing, Bookstores, Printing, Mailing Services, Custodial, Grounds and Glendon Facilities Services, Maintenance, Energy Management, Environmental Design & Sustainability, Facilities Development, Planning & Renovations, Security Services, YU-card, Food and Parking Services, CSBO-Financial Services.


Responsibilities

Major Job Duties include:

  • Project management for water main replacement including long term plan, strategy development and temporary bypass connections, development and execution of Vendor of Record RFP for maintenance and repair and replacement
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures for water main repairs
  • Develop long term replacement and quality strategy including budget estimates cataloged in VFA and Maximo dbase
  • Prepare and execute Vendor of Record RFP for maintenance and repairs of water and sewer system
  • Manage repairs and replacement projects
  • Co-ordinate on going testing for compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act and related regulations
  • Co-ordinate drawing updates
  • Supervision of contractors and co-ordination of IUOE and CUPE hourly staff during water main repairs

  • Experience and Qualifications

    If you have a Professional Engineer Designation in Ontario, a Civil Engineering degree, and at least 5 years experience with infrastructure design and 10 years experience with water and sewer infrastructure, this may be the opportunity for you. This is a 6 months temporary opportunity with a rate of pay of $48.00/hour.
