University of Windsor Law School

Mooting and Clinical Programs

The Faculty additionally offers many experiential learning opportunities through which students may develop and hone their practical skills, such as their respective advocacy, argumentative, and lawyering abilities, and deal directly with the dynamics of the legal world. Such opportunities are available primarily via mooting and clinical work. Students may take part in a number of mooting competitions including the Aboriginal Moot, Arnup Cup, Gale Moot, Jessup Moot, Laskin Moot, Niagara Moot, Securities and Corporate Moot, and Wilson Moot.

Opportunity for clinical work is available through various means including the University of Windsor-managed Legal Assistance of Windsor, Community Legal Aid, Legal Aid Ontario, Pro Bono Students Canada, and the University of Windsor Mediation Service, a unique Canadian law school-based mediation program. The latter links 'law students with supervising lawyers to provide pro bono legal assistance to individuals, groups, and organizations.' In addition, students may garner editorial experience working for the student-edited Windsor Review of Legal and Social Issues.
