MBA and Business Degree Programs at First Nations University of Canada

Profile of MBA Program - First Nations University of Canada

Founded in 1976 and originally known as the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College (SIFC), the First Nations University of Canada provides undergraduate and graduate programs taught with respect to the concerns, culture, and history of First Nations.

With this in mind, the University, in partnership with the College of Commerce of the University of Saskatchewan, offers students both the Certificate in Indigenous Business Administration (CIBA), with the option of transferring to the College's Bachelor of Commerce degree upon graduation, and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) specializing in Indigenous Management. The latter program is primarily targeted at individuals who are interested in 'a career in Aboriginal economic and business development, individuals working in Aboriginal communities looking to develop their management skills and those working in non-Aboriginal organizations focusing on Aboriginal relations.' The degree granting institution for the MBA is the University of Saskatchewan; however, the benefits that accrue to students taking the program at the First Nations University includes a smaller, more social student network, lower student/professor ratio, and access to expert and respected faculty and research facilities and material at both institutions.
