The University of Alberta's Master of Business Administration in Natural Resources and Energy (MBA in NR&E) in Fort McMurray is a unique, cohort-based program delivered at Keyano College by the University of Alberta's School of Business professors which is designed for individuals who aspire to careers as managers in the NR&E industry. The Program will expose students to a wide array of business concepts, theories, and skills as well as the quantitative aspects of economics and finance while allowing them to major in NR&E via a combination of specialized courses, 'interaction with leaders in the natural resources and energy sector,' field trips, and work-experience. The Program will particularly focus on developing student's 'energy-related analytical expertise based on a broad understanding of the resource and energy industries' which will enable 'students to address and analyze key strategic questions facing today's business leaders and policy makers' such as 'the many links between resource and energy questions and environmental issues.' Students will have the opportunity to do four months of co-operative education during the Summer that will enable them to gain real-world work experience in a professional setting in either the public or private sector. The Program has a high job placement rate for its graduates who have typically found employment in managerial positions in both the private and public sector in Canada and around the world.
