DeGroote School of Business of McMaster University offers a Ph.D. in Business Administration in Human Resources (HR), a research intensive program designed for individuals who aspire to become educators, practitioners, and/or researchers within the HR field. Students will be 'exposed to contemporary theories, conceptual frameworks, empirical research and applications in human resources, broadly defined' which will prepare them 'to undertake and disseminate independent research through peer-reviewed conference presentations and publications within HR' and implement 'effective HR practices and strategies, based on the latest research advances in the field.' The Program is to be taken on a full-time schedule, although students may switch to part-time status provided they receive approval from the Ph.D. Program Co-ordinator. Normally, Ph.D. candidates will have a limit of 6 years from their initial registration to complete the degree although it will be possible to meet all requirements in 'four full years of study' or less.
