April 10, 2006 Source: : http://www.ucalgary.ca/news/april06/art-open-house.html U of C Art Department Opens Doors Each year, at the end of the Winter Term, the Department of Art at the University of Calgary hosts an OPEN HOUSE to celebrate the yearlong efforts of students, staff and teaching faculty. The result is an amazing panorama of displayed artworks, mini-lectures, food and refreshments, and self-guided tours of the Department of Art facilities. You will find displays of work from first-year to fourth-year students, in sculpture, printmaking, photography, painting, drawing, media arts, and mixed media. Studios, workshops and individual studio areas will be open for visitors. In addition, graduate students will have their studio spaces open and be available for questions regarding their work. This year’s OPEN HOUSE also offers lectures by Professors John Stocking and Paul Woodrow and Developmental Art’s interactive centres. On Wednesday, April 12, media will have an opportunity to visit an OPEN HOUSE and interview students, faculty members, and members of public at this event. Wednesday’s media availability will take place from 1– 4:30 pm in the Department of Art, located on the 6th and 7th floor of Art Parkade.
