Murray Adaskin was composer-in-residence at the University of Saskatchewan, and was one of the grand old men of the previous generation. Howard Bashaw is on the faculty at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. William Jordan and Allan Gordon Bell are professors of composition at the University of Calgary. Jesse Plessis is a student at the University of Lethbridge and is the winner of the 2006 Land's End Composers Competition. You will hear the world premiere of his "Ancient Festival" for violin, cello, and prepared piano. This concert will be recorded for future broadcast on CBC Radio Two "Our Music".
