Matt will vie along with student winners from each of the remaining Canadian provinces for the national award at the 2006 Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship Incorporated (ACE) National Exposition. Each of the provincial finalists will receive a $1,000 cash prize, round trip airfare to Toronto and three nights’ accommodations to attend the Exposition in Toronto on May 15 and 16. The ten finalists will present on the first day of the event and four finalists will advance to the final round of competition the following day. The national award recipient will then represent Canada at the Global Student Entrepreneurs Awards (GSEA) competition, to be held in Chicago, Illinois, later this year. The CIBC Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award celebrates the commitment, determination and achievements of student entrepreneurs across Canada. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the award and in honour of this milestone; ACE and CIBC have expanded the program to include ten provincial winners and a grand prize of $10,000 for the national winner. ACE has also launched a pilot affiliation with GSEA, allowing the Canadian CIBC Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award winner to showcase their business and compete on a global platform. "Being the first provincial award winner from Brandon in many years (maybe ever) is a great honour," says Berg, who, in addition to his studies at Brandon University, owns and operates Livingstone Landscaping in Brandon. "It feels great to be acknowledged for all of the years of hard work involved with being a full-time student while running a full-time business. The exposure for the Company and myself has resulted in many opportunities ranging from landscaping work, job offers, to a request to write my success story for a book being written in Canada. I am thankful to be surrounded by such talented people who could help make it all happen. That said, I give credit to family, peers, customers, staff, professors, and teachers who have all lent a hand in making me and my company a success." About ACE: Founded in the mid-1980s, ACE is a national, not-for-profit organization that is igniting young Canadians to create brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
