August 24, 2006 Source: : http://www.unb.ca/news/view.cgi?id=1075 UNBF Hosts International Telework, Electronic Conference August 24, 2006 UNB Fredericton News Release: D693 Brad Janes, Public Relations Officer (506) 458-7969 For the first time in its 10-year history, the International Telework Association (ITA) will bring its annual workshop to North America. In fact, the conference will be held in Fredericton. In conjunction with the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton’s faculty of business administration, the ITA will gather specialists in the field of telework and electronic collaboration from Aug. 28 to 31. The conference will be held at the Delta Fredericton. The aim of the event is to generate interaction and share ideas among business practitioners and academic researchers around the development and maintenance of e-networks in an increasingly volatile world. "The increasing rate of technological innovation and a growing concern for continuity through periods of large-scale interruptions from natural, technological and human-induced events are some factors contributing to a heightened sense of uncertainty and social turbulence," said Andrew Gaudes, a professor with UNBF’s faculty of business administration. "A major challenge today is how individuals, organizations and regions can leverage human capital to collaborate through unprecedented and complex work and life scenarios." The workshop will specifically examine work strategies that involve networks that contribute to greater preparedness. Invited speakers, panel discussions and refereed presentations and cases from around the world will be part of the international exchange.
