BU Coach Barnaby Craddock Finalizes Mens Basketball 2006 Recruiting Class

BRANDON, MB - Bobcats second year Head Coach Barnaby Craddock announced this week that a former Canada - West Men’s Basketball All-star and an international student are the final additions to the Bobcats 2006 recruiting class.

Taylor Cherris-Wilding joins the Bobcats having taken two seasons off since being named a member of the Canada-West All-Star team in 2004. During his 2004 season Taylor shot a phenomenal 50% from the 3-point line and 90% from the free throw line.

A veteran of Canadian Basketball, Taylor was also named to the All-Canadian team during his college career at Douglas College. Originally from Vancouver, B.C, Taylor comes to Brandon University to complete his Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Geography.

Yuri Whyms will be moving north of the border to join the Bobcats this September. A native of Reno, Nevada, Yuri plans to complete his Bachelor of General Studies with a major in Physical Education. A 6'8" post, Yuri has played previously at Junior College in California, and most recently at the University of Western Oregon where he averaged 7.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg and shot 61% from the floor.

Craddock said, "I am thrilled to have both Taylor and Yuri join our program," says Craddock. "Both are outstanding individuals and I expect will make positive contributions to the team."

Taylor and Yuri join John Whitt (Virginia, USA), Jon Thompson (Burnaby B.C) and Eric Holm (Vancouver, B.C) to complete the Bobcats 2006 recruiting class.
