The Nipissing University Lakers soccer teams are putting the final touches on their rosters as they prepare to begin the regular season this weekend at the Education Centre Field

North Bay, ON, August 30, 2006 — Nipissing University staff and faculty are busy making the final preparations as the university gets set to welcome students for the 2006-07 academic year.

Nipissing’s preliminary enrolment numbers show that roughly 4,000 students will be starting classes at the North Bay campus this fall including 840 first-year students and 823 Faculty of Education students.

Faculty of Education students began their three day orientation session on August 28. From there, they will begin their first teaching placement, returning again to Nipissing for classes on Monday, September 11.

For the majority of students in the Faculty of Arts and Science, classes will begin on Thursday, September 7. Students in Environmental Biology and Technology begin classes on Wednesday, September 6. For those students in the Concurrent Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education program, classes begin on Monday, September 11.

Prior to classes commencing, however, students participate in Frosh Week activities. The theme for this year’s Frosh Week is Rock Star Frosh. Events begin Saturday, September 2, with residence move-in, and continue to Saturday September 9, with the annual Shinerama fundraiser with all proceeds going to Cystic Fibrosis research.
