February 2, 2006 Source: Laurentian University of Sudbury: http://www.laurentian.ca/?file=newsrelease/2006/fe Dr. Sami Aoun: Lecture on the Middle East, Thursday February 9 2006 Sudbury - ACFAS-Sudbury and the Institut Franco-ontarien (IFO) invite you to attend a presentation by Dr. Sami Aoun, political analyst, specialist in international relations of the Near-East and Middle East and History and Political Science professor at the Université de Sherbrooke. The conference of Mr Sami Aoun, entitled "Le Moyen-Orient dans la tourmente : lecture idéologique et géopolitique" will concern the international and conflicting relations between the different countries of the Near-East and Middle East. He will specifically be referring to political violence and the ascent of the terrorism after September 11th 2001; the Israeli-Palestinian conflict after the elections of January 25th; the Israeli elections; and the on-going tension between Lebanon and Syria. His conclusions will help to understand the future of democracy in the Middle-East. The conference will take place Thursday February 9th 2006 from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm, in the Governor’s Lounge, 11th floor of the R.D Parker building, Laurentian University. Entry is free.
