Lord Beaverbrook Scholarships Awarded

The University of New Brunswick has awarded six Lord Beaverbrook
Scholarships to students who graduated from high schools last June. The
scholarships are valued at $6,500 per year for four years.

Lillian Pearl Fanjoy of Saint John, N.B., is a graduate of Harbour View High
School. She is currently enrolled in the arts program on UNB’s Saint John
campus and is the daughter of Allan and Gay Fanjoy.

Samantha Moore of Lincoln, N.B., is enrolled in the science program on UNB’s
Fredericton campus. She is a graduate of Oromocto High School and is the
daughter of Christopher and Melanie Moore.

Ashley Aaron Nolan of Rothesay, N.B., is enrolled in the science program on
UNB’s Saint John campus. She is a recent graduate of Rothesay High School
and is the daughter of W. Eric and Darlene Nolan.

James Kyle Roherty graduated from Sugarloaf Senior High School and is now
enrolled in the science program on the university’s Fredericton campus. He
is the son of James Roherty and Karen Connors of Atholville, N.B.

Kyra Stiles of Elgin, N.B., is a graduate of Petitcodiac Regional High
School. She is enrolled in the science program on UNB’s Fredericton campus
and is the daughter of Gerald and Judith Stiles.

Rebecca Morgan Fowler of Smithtown, N.B. is a graduate of Hampton High
School and is enrolled in the science program on the university’s Saint John
campus. She is the daughter of Bruce and Brenda Fowler.

Lord Beaverbrook established these scholarships in 1920 to provide
assistance and opportunity for some of the province’s best students.
Building on the great traditions Lord Beaverbrook established, UNB assumed
responsibility for funding the Lord Beaverbrook entrance scholarships and
the Lord Beaverbrook scholarships in law after his death in 1964. Since
1920, over 800 of the province’s best high school students have benefited
from the Beaverbrook entrance scholarships.

The university and its donors are pleased to provide financial support to
students through the granting of scholarships. For information about
