October 2, 2006 Source: : http://www.mta.ca/news/?id=1110 Mount Allison welcomes Roman history expert to campus — Oct. 4 SACKVILLE, NB — Mount Allison University’s department of classics will host a public lecture by Dr. Michele George of the department of classics at McMaster University. Dr. George’s talk is entitled: Stantium servorum turba: Slaves at Roman Banquets and will be held on Wednesday, October 4 at 4:45 p.m. in the Avard-Dixon Building, room 118. Dr. George has written extensively on Roman social history, especially the Roman family. Recent research and publications have focused on architectural typology and interior decoration at Pompeii. Currently, Dr. George is doing research for a monograph on the iconography of Roman slavery and social relations in visual imagery. She is an associate editor of the classical journal Phoenix, and treasurer of the Hamilton society of the Archaeological Institute of America.
