Tourism career seminars
about looking Inside the
box

Essential information and
inspiration for tourism professionals, business owners and career seekers is
coming to Malaspina University-College’s location at Parksville Qualicum
Centre starting this November.

Both seminars feature international speaker and trainer Steve Crowhurst.
Crowhurst’s "no fluff, no theory" approach to training, upbeat delivery,
personal anecdotes and great sense of humour will make for an informative
and entertaining two-days.

The first seminar, "Turn to Tourism: How to Create A Rewarding Business and
Career", is a fact-filled program aimed at community leaders,
career-seekers, existing and start-up tourist business owners. It’s being
held November 3 and 4 at the Parksville Qualicum Centre and will also help
people transform their skills, talents, stories, legends, myth and heritage
into tourism opportunities.

The second seminar, "Sales & Marketing Boot Camp for Travel and Tourism
Industry" is also a two-day event focused on helping participants develop
their creative marketing skills including the use of dozens of
business-generating ideas participants can implement right away. The second
seminar is at the same location but runs January 26 and 27.

Crowhurst has been training the travel and tourism industry since 1983 and
has presented Canada-wide for provincial departments of tourism, and
internationally in the United States, China, Egypt, UK, Spain and Bosnia. He
writes a monthly sales column for the trade magazine Canadian Traveller,
reviews and develops training modules for International Air Transport
Association and often appears as a speaker at the Addison Travel Trade
Shows.

Each seminar, which is part of Malaspina’s new Business Generation Seminars
offered through the Centre for Continuing Studies, also includes a bonus day
for those eager to review and discuss their business and personal plans with
Crowhurst.
