Keyano Signs New Agreement
With the U of L for Bachelor of Fine
Arts

On October 4, 2006,
Keyano College signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of
Lethbridge that may result in Keyano’s Visual Performing Arts students
gaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts without leaving the College. This memorandum
of agreement will set the stage for a four year program to be offered at
Keyano College that will result in a University of Lethbridge Bachelor of
Fine Arts (Dramatic Arts) undergraduate degree.

"We are very pleased to partner with Keyano College to collaboratively
deliver this very challenging program to their students on site in Fort
McMurray and, in the process, give them the same opportunities that our U of
L students have to complete a first-rate, four-year program in the dramatic
arts," said Dr. Seamus O'Shea, University of Lethbridge Vice-President,
Academic and Provost.

Both the University of Lethbridge and Keyano College have agreed to work
together to explore provincial funding opportunities for the development and
execution of the proposed four year program.

"This memorandum of agreement for the Bachelor of Fine Arts at Keyano
College is consistent with our goal of making degree completion options
available in Fort McMurray and at Keyano College. I applaud the Visual and
Performing Arts department for putting so much hard work into this and
identifying this as a need for the College and our students," said Marylea
Jarvis, Keyano College Vice President of Instruction. "This will add to the
strong program we provide as this new degree offering is the logical next
step."

"We will be taking advantage of a number of different ways to deliver the
program," said O’Shea. "Including distance learning and web-based
technology, faculty exchanges, and the creativity of our own faculty and
Keyano's faculty contacts to give the students a very unique educational
experience that can only strengthen both institutions' programming."
