Non-Violence Awaremess Fair
launches Month Without
Violence

by Debra Earl
October 05, 2006

A purple ribbon in support of non-violence will be prominent at the
first-ever Non-Violence Awaremess Fair in the MUSC Marketplace on Thursday,
Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This event is sponsored by the Campus Health Centre and is part of a series
of events planned by the Anti-Violence Network to mark October as the Month
Without Violence.

Ten McMaster services will be presenting messages of non-violence and hope
for a peaceful environment at the McMaster University campus and in our
community. There will be poster presentations, videos, interactive games and
lots of information handouts on many related topics, including healthy
relationships, fostering respect, fairness, human rights, safety, and
preventing aggression and assault.

Many campus resources that deal with these issues will be present to promote
their services, including Campus Health, Anti-Violence Network, Centre for
Student Development, Crime Prevention Office, OMBUDS, OPIRG, Human Rights
and Equity Services, Student Health Education Centre, Judicial Affairs and
Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Care Centre.

Join us for this celebration of all things non-violent. Wear a purple ribbon
as a demonstration of your support of non-violence and your participation in
building a culture of peace at McMaster.

The next event in the Month Without Violence series presented by the
Anti-Violence Network is on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 12:30 p.m. Roses Among the
Stones: A Commemorative Service to Promote Non-Violence will take place on
the steps of Gilmour Hall and the Nina de Villiers Memorial Rose Garden.
