by Lanna Crucefix On October 10, the University of Toronto launches Speaking UP - its
first-ever employee experience survey for faculty, staff and librarians. Speaking UP will run for a month, until November 10, and will give employees
a chance to tell the University about their work experience. The survey
covers questions concerning respect and recognition, resources, work-life
balance, career development, leadership and communication. "We’re looking for a frank and honest assessment of what people think about
working at U of T," said Angela Hildyard, Vice-President (Human Resources
and Equity). "The questions have been carefully developed with input from
employees across all three campuses to ensure that we receive a
comprehensive view of the University as an employer." On October 10, eligible employees with a valid U of T email address on HRIS
(the University’s Human Resources Information System) will receive an
invitation from Mercer Delta to participate in the survey, sent from
UofTSurvey@matrixresearch.ca. The subject of the email invitation to take the survey will read "U of T
Faculty and Staff Experience Survey". Employees are asked to be alert to its
arrival, and to open, read and save the email, as it contains the unique
web-link needed to access and complete the survey. Mercer Delta is the independent consultant working with the University to
ensure anonymity and confidentiality in processing the data. Matrix
Research, a Canadian-based data collection and processing firm partnering
with Mercer Delta, is hosting the web-based survey for the University and
will be processing data submitted through the web and paper-based surveys. Those employees without a valid U of T email address on HRIS will receive a
paper survey package through campus mail on or around October 10. "Whatever the results of this survey – whether they are positive or negative
– the University’s senior administration is committed to sharing the results
