Classes start up this week along with a number of Frosh Week and Orientation 2005 activities . An anticipated home game between the CAPERS and St. FX University soccer teams takes place on Friday. Starting today and running through the week are ‘Meet and Greet Days’ where faculty, staff and alumni welcome new and returning students, answer questions and provide information. Students will be treated to a free pancake breakfast this Tuesday morning from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., served up by University staff. On Thursday, there will be live music and a bbq in the courtyard for the campus community. The popular Cape Breton University Karaoke Idol takes place in the CBU Commons from noon until 1:30 p.m. each day this week with the grand prize winner announced on Friday. In addition, the Cape Breton University Students’ Union has a number of events planned for Frosh Week including: Fear Factor and Jeopardy competitions; Comedy Night on Tuesday; a Cape Breton Kitchen Party on Thursday night with Island artists Beolach, Ashego and Ashley MacIsaac, and Rock the Pit Beach Theme Night on Friday. In addition there is a Buy/Sell/Trade Day on Wednesday, free bbq’s, and a chance to win an I-pod during the week-long Go Venture Challenge. Frosh Week ends with the popular annual Shinerama fundraising day on Saturday. The CAPERS soccer teams take on St. FX University this Friday at the CAPERS soccer pitch.
