But if crime is such a serious issue, how best to prevent it? The University of Ottawa’s newest research venture will search for answers to that question. The University of Ottawa Institute for Crime Prevention will be officially launched at a ceremony at the University on September 21. In attendance will be the Hon. Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, who will make a related announcement. The Institute will be led by Professor Irvin Waller, who has advised numerous governments, was founding Director General of the International Centre for Prevention of Crime, and is the author of the new book Less Law, More Order.
